Battery Boxes Chevy S-10's have a frame that is rather condusive to modifications to hold the batteries. The drive shaft is centered and the shocks are out of the way, leaving plenty of air space. Several cross members of square steel tubing are welded in, then the "cage" structure is made from flat steel stock. In turn, an insulated battery box fits inside. The original boxes were painted playwood with 3/4" foam insulation. The new rear box is polyethelene with 1" foam insulation (as made by EVA). |
